Roy R. Rodriguez-Armijos is an experienced, innovative apparel designer specializing in active sportswear. In his current position as senior designer for Warnaco/Speedo, he conceptualized all aspects of a women’s athletic lifestyle/performance line, Axcelerate for Speedo, and directed its execution and launch. He is now managing senior design responsibilities for this line and preparing to introduce a complementary men’s line, Axcelerate for Men.
Armijos has held senior design positions with Puma International and Reebok International. Assignments have included Puma’s International Collection distributed in Europe and its U.S. Soccer Collection as well as Reebok’s Iverson Sportswear. He has also worked as a designer for Pro Player, a licensed athleticwear company, and China Silk, a ready-to-wear company specializing in ladies’ tailored apparel, soft dressing, and lingerie.
He receives design inspirations from many sources including one-on-one interaction with consumers. Armijos maintains a strong awareness of fashion and market trends by visiting shows and vendors worldwide on a regular basis.
Prior to earning his Associate’s degree in Fashion Design, Armijos oversaw graphic design activities at leading publications that included Lear’s Magazine and Redbook. He has been recognized as one of an elite group of designers who have worked successfully in both the apparel and graphic design fields.
Armijos is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology and the School of Visual Arts, both in New York City.
